Becraft/Beecroft Researchers

Genealogy research is a lifetime endeavor.  Over the years, people have picked up the hobby and made contact with a wide variety of cousins who share in the same passion for uncovering our ancestors.  Many of these people have been lost to us as resources.  If you are a Becraft/Beecroft etc. researcher, make yourself known.  From our collective research comes clarity in the pursuit of our ancestors.

Lorraine Plotner Becraft - My first recollection of Lorraine was a letter she sent out to Becraft's everywhere.  My dad received one of her letters inquiring about our lineage.  From the responses she received to these letters Lorraine and her husband built one of the largest collections of family sheets on Becraft's in the US.  Sadly, Lorraine quietly passed away a couple of years ago.  The status of her collection is unknown.

Mildred and Stephen Becraft - Mildred and Stephen first came to my attention through correspondence they were having with my cousin Leonard Becraft (here in Maryland).  Over time, I developed my own correspondence with this wonderful lady, intent on sharing all of her knowledge.  On a trip west one year, we made a special trip to visit her and Stephen.  Her collection of research is in the care of her son Dan.

Ivory Goodrich - This great lady was part of our mid-west family tree.  She like all the others was always willing to share and provide insight into the families of her branch of the Becraft line.  I do not know the status of her research collection.

Leonard Becraft - My cousin.  It is his fault I am in this business of researching.  He contributed the Maryland Becraft line to a book they published locally called the Burtonsville Heritage.  It was a collection of all the families that lived in and around the Burtonsville area here in Maryland.  Leonard is passionate about researching Becrafts anywhere he goes.  His collection of notes, pictures and handwritten bits on envelopes, scraps of paper, cards, and what-ever clean writing device he had available have been a treasure trove of information on families all over.  Leonard is still adding to his collection as he travels.

Joanne Murray - Joanne is a researcher who has focused on New York Becrafts.  This line is not currently connected to the Maryland Becrafts.  Her collection is quite well annotated and available online as "The Becraft Family of Morehouse".  She is a dedicated researcher and has a large collection of research she continues to add to.

David Wallace - David is researching the Ramapo Becraft's in New York.  He is the "expert", if we are all experts, in this line of Becrafts.  He continues to add to his collection.

There are so many others who have done their own research and who should be recognized here.  I invite those of you who are doing research please post a response to this blog so you can be recognized.  Include a bit about which branches of Becrafts/Beecrofts, etc that you are looking for.

Regards,
Robert J Becraft
